Facebook Schmacebook! Why I hate it.
My husband (…. …that sounded weird) made a fan page for me on Facebook. I told him to delete it. Why? Because I really hate Facebook!
I think that Facebook shows what our western society has become: it has a focus on individuals and not community. Everything is about individual success, and through Facebook you can show the world your own successful life, shouting look at me, look at me! I’ve done this, I’ve done that, I had that for dinner. Everybody is sitting at home in their IKEA furnished and successfully decorated livingrooms exposing their lifes to the world. This society is all about individuals and clicks (I don’t know if you call it click in English). It’s like a fucking (sorry) competition.
No wonder we are lonely! No wonder we get depressed! Loneliness is something that concerns more and more young people. Depression is one of the most common illnesses in this society. These are facts.
Why can’t we just call each other on the phone? Why are we so afraid of meeting face to face? What’s the point of being friends on Facebook if you can’t talk properly with that person face to face?
I don’t get it, I’m sorry.
No, wait, I’m not.
And for those who I am not able to meet because you live so far away: I hope that you will visit my blog. It’s not that I don’t want any contact with you, I miss you so much! But I’m not going to support Facebook by showing my name there :-P.
I want community. Facebook is not community.
